THE FOOLISH KINGS
it has been many, many years since the fall of the dark lord and now everyone is living happily with the knowledge that he's dead. every action possible was taken to ensure that he had no heirs and there was nobody in line to take his place as a new, evil dark lord. these efforts proved successful and the world breathed a sigh of relief.
now, with no current threat of death and destruction, people simply got on with their lives. former students of hogwarts grew up, had kids, started families. it was a wonderful thing. shops that had closed during the terrible ordeal were reopened and the wizarding world started back on it's track of normality. people were happy.
the new generation of hogwarts students, however, were a different story entirely. with nothing going on in the outside world, things started to turn into a typical school setting; status and power amongst peers was the new "in" thing.
over time there came a new order. prefects were just considered geeks and held no weight with the threat of point deduction, the head boy and girl became idols in their own right and the houses... well, they found their kings. from then on everything was a competition, and not just for the house cup. once-friends turned into rivals and chaos ensued; house friendships were officially dead.
as brave and courageous as ever, the gryffindors haven't really changed much apart from their thirst for fame and glory. most students in this house want attention and credit for anything great that happens. they want to be the best and they won't let anything stand in their way. at times even friendship takes a run and jump off the astronomy tower when recognition is on the line.
the always lovable and cute hufflepuffs aren't so cute anymore. after years of being trampled on and used, they've finally had enough. these days you shouldn't expect such spineless cowardice from these students because, although weak alone, they're pretty scary in groups.
the ravenclaw students know as well as any that their knowledge and intelligence far outweighs the other houses. deciding to use this to their advantage, their newest ambition is to fully take over hogwarts. a small step on the road to world domination.
rather than stake their claim to a certain role in hogwarts' eventual demise, these students are more than happy to sit back and throw spanners in the works for all the other houses. they're party animals by nature and causing trouble for everyone else is their lives' work. besides, everyone knows that the real rulers of hogwarts are the snakes.
